Since September 11, 2001, and the resulting assault designed to destroy the Constitution and Bill of Rights, Americans have tried to use lawful means provided by the Constitution and the vote to restore our natural rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. When Obama and the US Congress tried to erase these rights under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), some Americans filed suit, specifically against the "indefinite detention" outlined in statute 1021.
Wednesday, May 16, 2012, US District Judge Kathleen Forrest blocked the indefinite detention, the language of which included Obama's desire to indefinitely imprison American citizens without trial or due process. In her opinion against Obama, Forrest wrote:
"There is a strong public interest in protecting rights guaranteed by the First Amendment...in ensuring that due process rights guaranteed by the Fifth Amendment are protected by ensuring that ordinary citizens are able to understand the scope of conduct that could subject them to indefinite military detention."
As reported by Alexander Higgins, mainstream media such as MSN appear to be ignoring a court ruling that supports freedom of speech and the right to due process for American citizens, and indeed for the spirit of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights as being natural rights for all humans.
Higgins writes: "But the mainstream media was too busy today providing wall-to-wall coverage of the “important” cases about sex scandals with former movie stars and washed up politicians."
Higgins concludes his article with a warning. "Meanwhile, the US congress is hammering out the 2013 that looks to further expand the government’s totalitarian powers."
