One way to go to the mountains without spending time and money is to just visit the mountain webcams. Here is a link to Skimountaineer.com for skiing the Cascade volcanoes in the Pacific Northwest, specifically the snow-encased Cascade Mountains. Underneath the snow and evergreen forests lie volcanoes, which have erupted throughout history. The most publicized recent eruption occurred on Sunday, May 18, 1980 in southwest Washington state when Mount Saint Helens blew her top. The most famous Washington state mountain peak, Mount Rainier, is also a volcano, of the type that blows ash rather than lava. Visit these mountains for a break from the hustle and bustle.
