This is FASCISM in OUR Country!

At the World War One memorial, the sign reads, “Because of the federal government shutdown, this National Park Service area is closed, except for First Amendment activities.” So if you want to protest there, you’re good. If you want to quietly remember the dead, get off the damned lawn.
An exit question via Legal Insurrection while we wait for updates: How come the Lincoln Memorial isn’t open now if it was open “>during the 1995 shutdown?

If you use Twitter, I recommend following the Standard’s John McCormack, National Review’s Betsy Woodruff, and the Examiner’s Charlie Spiering, who took the photo I used for our front-page thumbnail of the feds actually deploying forklifts to set up gates around a memorial that’s open 24 hours a day with little supervision under normal circumstances."

GOOD QUESTION OF THE DAY:
Update: Visiting the Memorial is a “First Amendment activity”? Doesn’t that mean all parks and memorials are now basically required to open for visits?

From Ace – Shutdown Theater Goes Grand Guignol: Completely Self-Sustaining Tourist Attraction Ordered Shut Down for First Time In History
The National Park Service has ordered the closure of a Virginia park that sits on federal land, even though the government provides no resources for its maintenance or operation.
The Claude Moore Colonial Farm announced on Wednesday that NPS has ordered it to suspend operations until Congress agrees to a deal to fund the federal government.
According to Anna Eberly, managing director of the farm, NPS sent law enforcement agents to the park on Tuesday evening to remove staff and volunteers from the property.
“You do have to wonder about the wisdom of an organization that would use staff they don’t have the money to pay to evict visitors from a park site that operates without costing them any money,” she said.
The park withstood prior government shutdowns, noting in a news release that the farm will be closed to the public for the first time in 40 years.
“In previous budget dramas, the Farm has always been exempted since the NPS provides no staff or resources to operate the Farm,” Eberly explained in an emailed statement.
“In all the years I have worked with the National Park Service … I have never worked with a more arrogant, arbitrary and vindictive group representing the NPS,” Eberly said.

She called the decision “utter crap.”
“We have operated the Farm successfully for 32 years after the NPS cut the Farm from its budget in 1980 and are fully staffed and prepared to open today. But there are barricades at the Pavilions and entrance to the Farm,” Eberly explained.

Commentary from The Daily Paradise:

With the younger Americans seemingly afraid to cross the fascist barricades to OUR country's monuments, parks, etc., it's taking frail WWII vets in wheel chairs to make the first assault on the fascism from criminals in OUR government. This editor/writer at The Daily Paradise would like to see these courageous vets move right into Congress and OUR White House, immediately vote on impeaching obama and most of Congress, and restoring a clean vote to our country.

Wednesday, October 02, 2013 Update
Additional reinforcements of WW II Vets again tear down barricades to freedom, break through treasonous government servants.

"A new wave of veterans were forced to move barricades at the WWII Memorial in Washington Wednesday morning to gain access during the government slimdown, a spokeswoman from Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., told FoxNews.com.
The WWII veterans, from Ohio, Kansas and Missouri, arrived at the memorial one day after another group relied on the assistance from elected officials to move the barricades to allow access. Parks police did not prevent the first group from entering, nor did they interfere with Wednesday's group."

First Group of WW II Vets Refuse to Bow to tyranny from OUR public servants' attempt to limit US in OUR Capital, Washington, D.C.

http://www.prisonplanet.com/wwii-veterans-plan-to-storm-lincoln-memorial-today-closed-due-to-obama-admin-pettiness.html

"The same veterans group that managed to storm the gates at the WWII memorial yesterday is planning taking on the fences at the Lincoln Memorial today. This sounds like a capitol idea, pun intended.
Both memorials are open air memorials. The Lincoln Memorial is open 24 hours a day, normally. If you’ll recall, it was wide open to having someone throw green paint on it in the evening a few months ago.
So that means the Obama administration is making a conscious effort to spend more in time and money to shut off something which is normally open.
How ridiculous is this effort by President Obama to make the people “hurt” so he can blame it on Republicans, just as he did with the sequester, which was also his idea?"

From the Comments:
The next photo of the Flickr stream shows a barrier at a Yellowstone Park access road with a sign showing no visitor access. Would you be arrested and imprisoned if you were actually ignored this signage and was found in Yellowstone National Park? It really isn't your own country is it?
This would be unthinkable in Scotland, if the Scottish Government banned to right of free roaming access to a Scottish National Park such as the Cairngorms, even if they had anything such as a Park Ranger in their employment.
