On the morning before the school shooting, the alternative news was reporting yet another abusive TSA story.This time, TSA selected a 12 year old girl in a wheel chair for a "random" search. The TSA used Americans' tax dollars to terrorize a kid and her mother for an hour, when the kid and her mother were just trying to fly from Texas to Florida to seek treatment for the kid's brittle bone disease.

There's plenty of federal money to fund TSA employees to detain a child in a wheel chair. There's plenty of federal money for the TSA employees to decide that they couldn't handle the child by themselves, and decided to call in a bomb specialist, agents, and cell phones. This is the savage spectacle of grown-ups terrorizing a child by treating her like a terrorist.

This behavior is classic narcissism: The guilty people are pointing their finger at the innocent.

In Washington State today, Thursday December 06, 2012, people can possess up to one ounce of marijuana. The law also allows one pound of "cannibis-infused" food, or 72 ounces of "cannibis-infused drink." People smoking in public may receive a $50 fine, the same as for public consumption of alcohol.

With the federal government's war on drugs, including marijuana, there is a classic states' rights issue. Legislators from the state have been silent on the issue of the present state of affairs regarding legal marijuana in Washington state. U.S. Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell are on record as opposing the legalization of marijuana, as well as Representative Cathy McMorris-Rodgers.

Yet, with the 56 percent of Washington State voters approving the legalization of marijuana, the senators and represenatives find themselves out-voted on this matter. The question is will the senators and representatives and federal officials try to stop Washington State voters.

Tell Minnesota: Stop Wolf Killings for Sport

When Great Lakes wolves lost their Endangered Species Act protection earlier this year, responsibility for their well-being fell on individual states. Livestock producers and other special interest groups -- dead set on using this change to kill wolves for sport -- pushed through laws authorizing sport hunting and trapping of Minnesota wolves. Now Minnesota's wolves urgently need your help.

In response to these new laws, the Center for Biological Diversity filed a lawsuit. Minnesota state courts refused to stop the killing. In less than two weeks, hunters shot and killed more than 120 of Minnesota’s wolves. The state's goal is to kill 400 by the end of the season.

Hunting season is already open, and wolf trapping season begins Saturday, Nov. 24. Hundreds more of these beautiful and intelligent animals will suffer and die in gruesome leghold traps and snares.

Wolves are an essential part of the American wild. They regulate prey populations and help maintain biodiversity. Sport hunting and trapping may actually make problems between domestic animals and wolves worse. Sport killings disrupt pack dynamics and create lone wolves that are more apt to target livestock or pets out of desperation.

Political Metaphors That Point to Loser Candidates

Political campaigns wobble along on tired, overused, and incoherent metaphors. The 2012 event, whether you think it's an election or a selection, also features candidates who squeak along on the rusty wheels of gambling, sailing, traveling, and warring.

One common metaphor is the gambling hyperbole. "The stakes have never been higher!"
To reply, of course the stakes have been described as being higher. This gambling metaphor is dragged out whenever the candidate's speechwriters have come to a dead end. The candidate and speechwriters should be ashamed of having to stick their hands in the muddy waters of using an overworn analogy. But, they aren't ashamed, they continue to bleat about "The stakes have never been higher!"

It often takes a doctor to dignose ills in a patient, and so with political metaphors. Dr. Hunter S. Thompson peers at the 1972 US election pitting George McGovern and Richard Nixon. Hunter is ruthless at peeling the tarnishing gilt off political rhetoric, leaving it blowing tattered and looking ridiculous. Hunter records the boxing metaphor, used by losing candidates who pretend that they have just been nice, and now it's time to "take off the gloves," implying that the losing candidate is now ready to beat up the other loser candidate.

Kudos to any candidates with original thoughts and original writers, who have the desire to serve the good citizens of the US, and honor the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights.

For the other candidates, who look and sound like dangerous clowns, may they also endure a metaphor, of the last circle of Hell, where they must listen to endless loops of their ridiculous and treacherous tired rhetoric.
